Why are faces not showing up in shared photo streams?

I have just published several shared photo streams to iCloud, but all the face tags I've made don't seem to be showing up in the streams themselves. Are they there for others to see and I just can't see them? Or do others need to download the photos from the stream into their own iPhotos to be able to see tagged faces?
